What it actually is
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles that carry signaling molecules between cells. In hair medicine, the theory is that applying a concentrated exosome preparation to the scalp influences the follicle's growth cycle more strongly than platelet-derived growth factors alone.
Early clinical signals are encouraging. Even so, the evidence base is thinner than PRP's, protocols aren't standardized across the field, and regulatory status varies by product and country. We won't present a young treatment as an established one.
We offer it where the patient understands this trade-off and wants the option. What we won't do is position it as a proven alternative to a transplant. If you're talking to a clinic that does, treat that as information about the clinic.

Where this technology really stands

Products differ considerably in source, processing and concentration, and the regulatory status of exosome preparations for this use varies by country and continues to evolve. Any clinic offering it should be willing to tell you the product, its source and its regulatory position without hesitation.
How we talk about it
We prefer to present exosome therapy as an emerging option with encouraging early evidence, not as a breakthrough — because the second framing is what the industry did with several earlier treatments that didn't hold up. Patients considering it deserve to know which category it's in.
In practice, that means offering it as an adjunct alongside established treatment rather than instead of it, with a clear statement of what the current evidence does and doesn't show, and with no claims about regrowth on a smooth scalp.
Questions to ask before you agree
Because the market is moving faster than the evidence, the burden of asking specific questions falls on the patient — and a clinic that can't answer them without vagueness isn't the right place to receive an emerging biological product.
- What is the product — its name, its manufacturer and what it's derived from?
- What is its regulatory status in Türkiye for this use today?
- How is it stored and prepared, and what happens if the cold chain is broken?
- What does the clinic expect it to achieve that established treatment can't?
- What is the total cost of a full course, including maintenance?
